Installing Flash Player Plugin on Firefox without having Admin access

Sometimes, we get the windows machine with only limited access. We need Administrator access to install any software on the system.

I am having the same problem in my office. We do not get administrator access. Being a Firefox addicted user, I found a way to install firefox and a useful plugin, flash player.

I installed Firefox in my D directory, since installing in C requires Admin access by choosing custom while installing and then specifying a path to D directory. If this also does not work than you can download Portable Firefox, install it on a USB and use it. There are number of Portable softwares availale on web. Googling will help.

Once Firefox is installed, perform following steps to install flash player for Firefox -

1. Download the XPI archive of the Flash Player Plugin.

2. Change the extension of the downloaded file from .xpi to .zip. Extract the files using Winzip or any other tool.

3. Go to Start->run. Type %APPDATA%. It will open Application Data folder. Now go into Mozilla->Plugins folder (create it if not there).

4. Copy the files flashplayer.xpt and NPSWF32.dll from extracted folder to %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Plugins\

Restart the firefox and enjoy the flash player plugin.
